I tired to ring you this morning but I tink you were on the phone to you mother.

I gave her a ring this morning, but I cloudn´t get through (make contact): the line was engaged.

I think I dialled the wrong (faully) number.

I left a message on Dan´s answerphone, but he never phone me back.
